Debt Collection Frequently Asked Questions

You can’t send the boys around, you can’t make threats, but what you can do is put them on Late Payer List which means anyone who looks them up will find ou that they don’t pay their bills. They’ll stay on the list until you get paid.

First thing to remember is it’s your time and effort so you should be paid for that. so, don’t be afraid to ask!

  1. Send reminders from your accounting software.
  2. Send a link to payment in a follow-up email.
  3. Join Late Payer List for free and put the Late Payer List logo on all your invoices and statements as a warning.
  4. Make sure your terms and conditions are up to date.
  5. If you don’t want to make a call to them, pay someone to do it.
  6. Offer a fast payment discount (there are rules around late payment fees so check with someone qualified).
  7. Use a debt collection agency but they are typically quite expensive.
  8. Put them on Late Payer List.

If you don’t pay and get taken to court you’ll get a bad credit reference and you might be on the Late Payer List where everyone can see that you’re a bad payer.
